About this event
Advanced Beginner Pointe is where dancers begin taking the technique developed at the barre and carrying it more confidently into the center. Class includes conditioning, pointe barre, center exercises, introductory traveling combinations, and progressively connected movement. Dancers work on balance, coordination, weight transfer, musicality, changes of direction, and the ability to move independently en pointe. Rather than simply introducing harder steps, this level teaches dancers how to connect their pointe vocabulary and move through space with greater ease and confidence—preparing them for more sustained center work and eventual study of classical variations. Instructor approval is required. Dancers should have previous pointe training and be comfortable performing fundamental pointe exercises at the barre. Students are required to bring an exercise band to class. A tennis ball or similar massage ball for foot rolling is optional. Please note: Dance Theatre Northwest has a dress code for dancers of all ages. Before attending class, please visit our website for complete dress code requirements and details.
