About this event
Held In Studio. Open to both beginners and the more experienced practitioners. What is functional movement? It is the real-world biomechanics that we use to move effectively and efficiently through our day to facilitate pain free, healthy bodies. In our present day lives, movement patterns and quality and quantity of movement have changed drastically from our hunter-gatherer days. But we were nomadic hunter-gatherers for 1.8 million years. In just the last 100-200 years we’ve gone from “move to live” to “move when you have to”. That’s a drastic change for our physiology in such a short time (.00001% of our existence since homo-erectus), and evolution can’t keep up! Our bodies evolved to use movements as a tool for good health and longevity. The ramifications of less movement can be seen everywhere and are typically and sadly labeled as normal age-related conditions. So how do we start to safely increase the quality and quantity of our movement? That’s what this class will help you to explore using yoga as a tool to discover your path to a functional moving body.
