About this event

An evening to soften into sound.

As the November evening settles around us, step into a warm, welcoming space and give yourself an hour to simply receive.

We’re delighted to welcome Tai Mattox back for her second sound bath at Recess with an invitation to get cozy, close your eyes, and listen as the room fills with layers of resonant sound.

What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a listening experience in which the tones of crystal and metal singing bowls, chimes, and percussion surround you. Rather than following a melody or learning a technique, you’re invited to notice the sounds as they rise, linger, and fade.

You might become aware of the gentle rhythm of your breath, the weight of your body resting, or the quiet spaces between each tone. There is no particular feeling to achieve. Your experience is your own.

Come as you are. Let us make you comfortable.

Rest lying down or request a chair. Bolsters, blocks, and blankets are provided to help you settle in. No meditation experience is needed. Just a willingness to pause and spend a little time with yourself.

Tai Mattox, founder of Experiences by Tai, brings her training as a Certified Primordial Sound Meditation Instructor, Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200), and Certified Vibrational Sound Therapy Practitioner to the evening.

Come on your own for a quiet hour, or bring someone you’d love to share it with. Let the evening hold a little less doing and a little more room for you.

*Limited accessible rates and complimentary community scholarships available at registration.
