About this event
Discover the smooth, soulful rhythm of Chicago-Style Stepping, a social partner dance rooted in Black urban culture and known for its elegance, flow, and connection. In this class, students will learn the foundational six- and eight-count patterns, timing, footwork, and partnering techniques that make Stepping such a captivating and versatile dance. Whether you’re brand new or looking to strengthen your technique, this class offers a welcoming space to build confidence, improve rhythm, and enjoy the music. We’ll cover basics, turns, lead-and-follow skills, and style, even how to add your own personality to the dance. No partner required; we’ll rotate throughout the class. Wear comfortable clothing. Women are encouraged to wear heels, men dress shoes, but not required. Gym shoes are ok. Join us for a fun, social, and empowering experience that brings people together through music, movement, and community.
