About this event

Come share in a pre-proclamation Lamp Lighting Ceremony hosted by District 4 Council Member Sandesh Sadalge. In 2025, in partnership with the City’s Friendship City Kochi, India, the City of Tacoma proclaimed its first Diwali Festival of Lights Day proclamation. This year, Tacoma will be joined by the Consul General of India, Prakash Gupta, to accept the proclamation and lead a lamp lighting ceremony with the Tacoma community. Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most significant and cherished celebrations for millions of people around the world, including many residents of the City of Tacoma. Diwali holds deep cultural, historical, and spiritual significance, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

All residents of Tacoma are invited to join in the celebration. Guests are encouraged to RSVP to this event: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/g/PRPdAruB6x
