About this event

Ask A Grandma on VoV Jean Bosch Studio, Vashon Hwy Friday, November 6th Doors open 4-6pm Ask a Grandma Comes to Voice of Vashon

Ask a Grandma is moving indoors for the cold months. They’ve been located on the south side of the Pharmacy for a few years but had to sit out the cold winter months. Voice of Vashon (VoV) has invited them to join the live stream from 4-6 pm on Friday, November 6th.

The “grandmas” are members of the Matriarch’s, a group of seasoned wise woman from Woman Hold the Key. Most Matriarchs are older woman retired from their careers, giving them more time to embrace the many activities, service opportunities, and connections they value. That said, there are no age or retirement requirements to belong. All are welcome.

For over two years the Grandmas have been delighted by visitors who stopped by to ask questions or just get a hug. They are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue with this beloved tradition.

Matriarch member Susan McCabe, a VoV producer, suggested a creative solution: bring Ask a Grandma to live radio! This new venue allows the Grandmas to continue, listening, encouraging and sharing wisdom during the winter months.

The First Friday Art Walk on November 6th is planned as the inaugural live-radio edition of Ask a Grandma.

Community members can participate in several ways:

 Call Voice of Vashon during the live broadcast between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. (206) 408- 7678

 Send an email before or during the program to grandma@womanholdthekey.com

 Stop by the Voice of Vashon studio during program hours and speak directly with the Grandmas.

Bonus: Free hugs available in person.

Ask a Grandma is a community conversation project that started in New York City and has been offering a welcoming space for people to ask questions, seek enlightenment, share stories, or simply enjoy a warm connection with caring, experienced women. Vashon Grandmas and the Vashon community have embraced the concept wholeheartedly for two years.

Come with a question. Leave with a smile, a story, and maybe a special grandma hug.
