  • Tacoma’s Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank is packing Thanksgiving boxes with full meals to help local families as new SNAP work requirements will tighten eligibility next month. The group, which served over 113,000 people in October, is expanding its home delivery program—partnering with Amazon and DoorDash to meet rising holiday demand.  FOX 13

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UW Tacoma is seeking a developer to expand its campus with a residential housing project and a new dining hall after the Board of Regents approved proposals for a public-private partnership — the project will add housing for 500 students and increase campus living to 15% of enrollment, with details expected in late 2029. School officials aim to use the new development to strengthen student life and enrollment recruitment.  KOMO News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Cantwell has demanded answers from BP in a letter regarding an unreported leak from the Olympic Pipeline—this leak led to a prolonged closure that affected environmental safety and flight travel at Sea-Tac Airport. BP said it restarted the pipeline on Sunday after a local blueberry farmer discovered the issue, and officials are monitoring fuel prices and holiday travel congestion.  KOMO News

HEALTH NEWS

  • On November 21, a Grays Harbor County older adult with underlying conditions died from H5N5 avian influenza while receiving treatment in King County. Health officials said no one else tested positive and the risk to the public remains low+ they will monitor those in close contact.  FOX 13
  • A Pierce County mother credited a wearable Zio patch heart monitor with saving her life after her heart stopped twice on November 21—doctors diagnosed a rare genetic condition that led her family to learn about the same hidden risk.  FOX 13
