- ➤ Tacoma City Council voted unanimously on October 7 to sponsor Trick or Streets — an event that lets neighbors close their streets to cars for safe Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, and fall celebrations. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Tacoma City Council approved updates to the Multi-Family Tax Exemption Program on October 7—changes set to expand affordable housing for lower income renters and support economic development that will take effect on November 7. Council members said the revisions will help maintain housing stability and encourage continued investment in the city. City of Tacoma
- ➤ The City of Tacoma launched the Tacoma Municipal Building Exterior Preservation Project to fix damage caused by past sandblasting that has led to cracking, spalling, and water intrusion. Phase 1 will start on October 20 and focus on cleaning, sealing, and repointing the east and west facades with scaffolds set up for pedestrian safety — future phases will address the north and south sides. - ➤ The Tacoma City Council passed Ordinance 29056 on October 7 to repurpose CBC youth seats into Emerging Leader roles for 16 to 24-year-olds—sponsored by Council Member Sarah Rumbaugh with co-sponsors Olgy Diaz and Sandesh Sadalge.
