ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A helicopter crashed near Joint Base Lewis—McChord on Wednesday night, with the Army confirming Friday that all four U.S. Army service members onboard died.  FOX 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Monster Jam is coming to the Tacoma Dome this weekend — and Good Day Seattle will preview the motorshow for local viewers. The event will offer a high-energy performance with thrilling stunts that Tacoma residents can enjoy.  FOX 13
  • Comedian Heather Shaw will perform in Tacoma from Oct. 3-5 as she prepares for her shows in both Seattle and Tacoma using her signature style. In an interview with local reporters, she shared her best imitation of Jim Carrey and discussed planning her wedding.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Tacoma Equity in Contracting Program will host an 'Access to Capital' panel discussion and Q&A for local entrepreneurs on October 27 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Tacoma Public Utilities Auditorium—panelists will share funding options and advice to help small and diverse business owners grow.  City of Tacoma
  • A public hearing on the proposed Tideflats Subarea Plan will be held on October 28 at 5:15 p.m. at the Tacoma Municipal Building—747 Market Street in Council Chambers with a virtual option available. The plan, developed over seven years by local officials, the Port, the Puyallup Tribe, Fife, and Pierce County, aims to balance industrial growth with environmental restoration and community needs.  City of Tacoma

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced new fines that charge each school $200 for every ejection of a coach, player, or parent and $100 for ejections from boys’ soccer for language violations—this rule follows a three-year study and nearly 750 total ejections and includes an appeal process that may fund body cam projects. Further details will emerge as schools begin to enforce the measures.  KOMO News
