  • Lune was featured as the adoptable pet of the week by the Tacoma and Pierce County Humane Society on September 14 at 1:21 p.m. PDT—she now awaits a loving adoptive home.  FOX 13

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Washington state currently leads the nation with gas prices at $4.66 per gallon while the Seattle area averages $4.81, surpassing California’s $4.64 measured on September 14. The gas tax that began on July 1 added 6 cents per gallon and planned annual increases for unleaded and diesel will further raise costs to fund road projects—affecting drivers' travel plans.  KOMO News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, researchers reported that the endangered Southern Resident orca J-36 was seen carrying her dead calf in Rosario Strait—raising concerns over high calf loss linked to scarce Chinook salmon. Experts noted the event highlights the need for better prey availability and reduced vessel noise to help the orca pods recover.  KOMO News

  • The Department of Justice requested Washington’s voter registration data that included names, birthdays, driver’s license numbers, and the last four digits of social security numbers, and Secretary of State Hobbs said he had questions about the request—he noted that 22 other states received a similar inquiry.  KOMO News
