- ➤ Dignity for Divas held mommy and me cooking classes to help women experiencing homelessness heal and rebuild with their families. Studio 13 Live showed that the classes focused on cooking skills and family support — a program that offers a new step for recovery. FOX 13
- ➤ The City of Tacoma is now accepting nominations for community members for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration held next January—nominations for the Lifetime Service Award and Emerging Leader Award are due online by October 28. City of Tacoma
- ➤ Business owners in Tacoma said they remained concerned after a homeless camp was cleared Tuesday morning for safety issues—fearing that without lasting housing solutions, the same problems with drug dealing, violence and public safety will soon return. KOMO News

- ➤ Microsoft announced that Washington employees in the Puget Sound region will be required to work in the office three days a week by the end of February; employees have until September 19 to submit exception requests as the company adjusts its hybrid schedule. FOX 13

- ➤ Pierce County Sheriff Keith Swank is facing three certification cases from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission—cases that opened on September 9—and he now awaits further review. FOX 13
- ➤ Investigators said that a woman walked by a business with a dog—possibly a decoy—as a burglary crew later stole thousands of dollars in items from trailers in Pierce County. FOX 13
- ➤ Tacoma authorities arrested James Daniel Lewis after new evidence led police to reopen the cold case of Amanda Green—a pregnant indigenous woman reported missing in 2021—and charged him with second-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful disposal of human remains. - ➤ Tacoma Arts Commission announced 2025 AMOCAT Arts Award winners—Tacoma Public Library as Arts Patron, Remakery and Mi Centro for Community Outreach by an Organization, and Saiyare Refaei and Irina Rasputnis for Community Outreach by an Individual—and will present the awards during the Tacoma Arts Month Proclamation at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 30 at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Tacoma Municipal Building. - ➤ The Pierce County Public Library system suffered a data breach from April 15th to 21st that exposed personal data of over 300,000 people and led to a class action lawsuit alleging that the records were not properly secured—plaintiffs claim the breach has caused emotional distress and poses ongoing risks of identity theft. The library is offering one year of credit monitoring to those affected, although critics say this measure is not enough to remedy the long-term harm. KOMO News
