CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Four soldiers at JBLM have been charged with sexual assault from an incident that took place last October in the barracks where a military student who was later commissioned as an Army officer was assaulted, and some of the accused will face court-martial proceedings in the coming months. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Bob Ferguson declared an emergency after a semi-truck crash damaged the White River Bridge on Aug. 18th, blocking both directions + he said repairs could cost over $2 million as state agencies work quickly to restore this critical lifeline for area communities. FOX 13
- ➤ Gov. Bob Ferguson declared an emergency in King and Pierce counties after a semi hit the White River Bridge on Aug. 18, causing the bridge to close and forcing a detour that can add 45 minutes to travel. WSDOT crews inspected the severe damage and will start temporary repairs—engineers plan to reopen the bridge as soon as possible. KOMO News
- ➤ Zahid Chaudhry, a disabled American veteran, was detained at a Tacoma detention center after he voluntarily went to a naturalization hearing, and his wife Melissa said his support for Palestinian human rights may be a factor in his detention—she added he has been a respected community member for 25 years. State Senator Yasmin Trudeau warned that his case raises concerns among those pursuing citizenship as ICE has not yet explained his status. KOMO News
