Residents said an intersection under construction in nearby Pierce County became hazardous as the new school year began.
Local officials are reviewing the concerns and may increase safety measures + adjust roadwork soon.

Tacoma police will host the 4th Annual Kids Health & Safety Fair on Saturday, Aug.
29 at Tacoma Dome from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local families can pick up free school supplies, clothing, healthcare, and see STEM exhibits (with free parking and transit passes) ahead of school.
🌲 Environment
Marine mammal experts and WDFW responded Monday after a decaying whale was found on the bow of a cargo vessel near the Port — experts secured the carcass to protect operations.
The carcass will be moved to McNeil Island for a necropsy Wednesday to help determine its cause of death.
🏛️ Government
Maintenance work on the Hylebos Bridge was completed Tuesday, Aug.
25 and the structure reopened to roadway+waterway traffic for local commuters.
