- ➤ Kuya Max was freed from Tacoma’s ICE detention center after nearly two months in detention and he thanked community supporters and labor groups outside the facility — he held his wife’s hand amid the celebration — marking a focus on the conditions faced by detainees. FOX 13
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Over the weekend, the Coast Guard tall ship Barque Eagle visited Seattle and held free public tours to show its role as a training vessel for new officers. Bonney Lake native Jonathan Hurley said he was very excited to see the historic ship—its past and training role help make it special—while it continues to serve as a leadership platform. KOMO News
- ➤ Washington Task Force-1 departed on July 11 to assist with Texas flood search and rescue efforts as the death toll nears 130. The four-person team from the Pierce County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Emergency Management supports local response operations with a K-9 unit. FOX 13
