ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Tacoma will begin sediment cap repairs in the Thea Foss Waterway this summer to protect water quality and maintain benefits from the past cleanup. Tacoma will fix repair areas RA 3 + RA 8 to mend erosion + support aquatic life. City of Tacoma
- ➤ Hundreds of small earthquakes rattled Mount Rainier over the last two days — the largest swarm since 2009, raising concerns for local residents. FOX 13
- ➤ Mount Rainier experienced its largest swarm of small earthquakes since 2009 on Tuesday — scientists are reviewing seismic data to see if further activity is likely. FOX 13
- ➤ A wildfire that started Tuesday near Toonerville Road in Belfair burned about 70–100 acres and led officials to order evacuations for around 50 homes in Mason County. Firefighters are working to contain the blaze—its cause remains undetermined as hotter temperatures are expected later this weekend. KOMO News
