- ➤ The Tacoma City Council and the City's Events and Recognitions Committee will honor top volunteers and service leaders at the 39th Annual City of Destiny Awards, set for June 26 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall, 2727 East D Street. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a community showcase, and the ceremony starts at 7 p.m. — Mayor Victoria Woodards with council members will present awards as local artist Steve LaBerge and comedian Heath Richardson perform. - ➤ On Monday June 23, the Tacoma Arts Commission awarded $100,000 in TAIP funding to 25 local artists working in dance, film, interdisciplinary, literary, music, performance, and visual arts.
