Tacoma police are investigating a shooting outside Lincoln High School that took place Tuesday afternoon (it is not known if the school is on lockdown) as officers work to determine the circumstances.

Tacoma dad Jayda Everett defended the man who sheltered his 2-year-old daughter during an Amber Alert — saying the man tried to help despite being arrested on an outstanding warrant — and confirmed that his daughter was safe.

The Washington State Transportation Commission will hold a meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. to set toll rates from $1.20 to $2.40 on the new SR 509 and SR 167 expressways—drivers will pay the maximum only when going north in the morning or south in the afternoon.

SR 509 will run from S 188th St in Burien to I-5 near SeaTac while SR 167 will extend from N Meridian Ave in Puyallup to I-5 in Fife to improve access to the airport and freight routes.
