ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An apartment fire Monday morning in Tacoma left ten people displaced (one person hospitalized) while local firefighters (from the Tacoma Fire Department) responded to the blaze.  FOX 13
  • Early Monday morning a fire in a Tacoma apartment building off South D Street forced 10 residents to evacuate—since the blaze started on the first floor around 3 a.m. and spread to the roof—resulting in one hospitalization and one on-scene treatment.  KOMO News
  • Tacoma fire crews responded to an apartment fire near Holy Rosary Catholic Church on South D Street after 3 a.m. Monday, evacuating 10 residents, rescuing two cats and hospitalizing one person with serious injuries while investigators search for a cause—firefighters extinguished the fire by 4 a.m.  FOX 13

CRIME NEWS

  • Police say that on Saturday a 2-year-old girl left her home around 9:30 a.m. and wandered near a local Wendy’s where an unrelated man took her in his car—she was recovered 18 minutes later thanks to many community tips. The man, who was booked on an unrelated warrant, was later released and charges are pending a decision from the Prosecutor’s Office.  KOMO News

  • Tacoma Venues & Events is asking local artists to apply to design a public art installation at the Tacoma Dome that honors the culture, stories, and Lushootseed language of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. The project is in partnership with the City of Tacoma’s Arts and Cultural Vitality division & consultation with the tribe.  City of Tacoma

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Over the weekend, during protests outside an ICE office in Tukwila, some immigrants received unexpected texts telling them to visit the Seattle field office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday—an action deemed alarming by attorney Lesley Irizarry-Hogan—while ICE noted that those arriving when offices are closed will not be penalized.  FOX 13
