- ➤ Tacoma and the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County have partnered to address a surge in stray animals after public complaints doubled since 2023. City council passed new regulations—banning the breeding, advertising, and sale of companion animals without a license, requiring spaying or neutering for all animals taken in by Animal Control, and boosting licensing fees to support low-cost spay and neuter programs—that are expected to reduce the stray population.
