The Tacoma Humane Society reopened after a plumbing emergency escalated last weekend—its facility now resumes care for animals in Tacoma and Pierce County.

The City of Tacoma is accepting applications for a two-year Tacoma Poet Laureate position that starts in September and offers a $6,000 stipend with up to $1,000 for project programming—this role supports local literary arts through readings, workshops, and city events.

Eligible local literary artists must apply by June 27 at 11:59 p.m. to join a program that has celebrated diverse voices since 2008.

Tacoma has named Allyson Griffith as Deputy City Manager effective immediately—she served as Interim Deputy City Manager since January and held key roles in building community links.
