BUSINESS NEWS

  • Travelers at SEA will see a new security checkpoint opening Friday, June 6 that features five general screening lanes to speed up summer travel on the Baggage Claim level in the Gina Marie Lindsey International Arrivals Hall. The checkpoint will help passengers, especially those flying internationally, and nearby upgrades include ADA-accessible seating and a planned coffee station—improving the wait experience.  KOMO News

CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday, June 2, law enforcement raided a home in Lacey and seized 35 firearms—including a machine gun, grenade launchers, explosives, body armor, and other items—linked to a violent attack at Joint Base Lewis-McCord, and two suspects arrested for their alleged White Nationalist ties appeared in Tacoma court on June 4.  KOMO News
  • Daniel Park, 32, from Kent, was arrested at a New York airport on June 3 after being extradited from Poland for allegedly shipping ammonium nitrate used to build a bomb that destroyed a California fertility clinic on May 17 and wounded four people — federal agents later found explosive recipes and chemicals at his home.  KOMO News

  • Village Theatre is presenting The Color Purple — an upcoming production for Tacoma theater fans — following its announcement on June 4th.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washington Attorney General Nick Brown led 18 states in defending Michigan’s law banning conversion therapy for minors—arguing the practice is harmful and falls below accepted mental health care standards. The coalition brief submitted on June 4 stressed that overturning the ban could risk the regulation of professional care.  FOX 13
  • Sea-Tac will open a new TSA security checkpoint on June 6 on the baggage claim level at the far south end of the terminal near the Gina Marie Lindsey International Arrivals Hall—designed to ease congestion for travelers without checked bags. The checkpoint, dedicated for general screening, will feature five screening lanes, glass cases with public art, and ADA-accessible seating while travelers with checked bags first drop off luggage upstairs.  FOX 13
