ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A man was rescued from a burning boat 40 feet long off the coast of Vashon Island Wednesday morning — the Marine Safety and Security Team Seattle led the rescue as Tacoma Fire Department extinguished the blaze and other agencies prepared to tow the vessel to Point Defiance Marina with no injuries reported.  KOMO News

CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies in south Pierce County arrested a 33-year-old mother who had her toddler and a stolen gun after a chase that began with a traffic stop, and she now faces felony charges including stolen gun possession, car theft, and first-degree kidnapping + she is a repeat offender.  FOX 13
  • Surveillance footage from Sea-Tac Airport showed fugitive Sedrick Stevensen escaping custody on May 7 by running from a United ticket counter and boarding a light rail train despite being shackled plus authorities said he is wanted in Kentucky.  FOX 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Paramount Theatre in Tacoma will host Champions of Magic soon. It was announced on May 7 at 11:18 a.m. PDT and more details will follow.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Bob Ferguson signed a bill that caps annual rent increases on May 7 at 5:54 p.m.—the measure is part of a housing package passed on the last legislative day to help control rising costs.  FOX 13
