- ➤ WSDOT permanently closed the 103-year-old Fairfax Bridge on State Route 165 over the Carbon River on April 14 after an inspection revealed severe deterioration of its steel supports. The closure leaves no public access to the Mowich Lake Entrance of Mount Rainier National Park and nearby recreation areas—WSDOT said an open house after Memorial Day will allow public input on replacement plans amid uncertain funding. - ➤ Health officials confirmed a King County infant was diagnosed with measles—the fifth case in Washington this year—after visiting Sea-Tac Airport and Seattle Children's Hospital while infectious.
