A Pierce County man, Ron Albert Tuaau, 33, was charged with armed robbery after he allegedly pointed a gun at a USPS mail carrier in Spanaway around 11:45 a.m. Monday—he stole a master key and fled from police before being apprehended following a short car chase.

Hilltop community members and visitors will soon see markers and plaques placed along Martin Luther King Jr. Way between 6th Avenue and South 19th Street as part of a new public art project honoring local leaders and important events.

After weather delayed sessions in March, Tacoma Streets Initiative II info sessions will take place on April 12 at the South Tacoma and Swasey Library branches to explain plans to improve roads, sidewalks, and paths in Tacoma—voters will see Proposition 1 on the ballot on April 22 to support tax changes for these upgrades.

Street closures for the Residential Street Restoration Program will start on April 7 and finish on May 30—South 92nd Street will be closed from April 7 to 11 while South 76th Street will be closed from April 14 to May 30.
