CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A USPS mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint of his master key at 11:47 a.m. Monday in Lakewood — the masked suspect in a maroon Kia grabbed the key before fleeing and was later arrested by police through a PIT maneuver after a short chase that saw three passengers released, with further charges pending a search warrant. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sionna Stallings-Ala'ilima was appointed chief of the Tacoma Fire Department — her appointment confirmed by the City Council became effective immediately after an 18-year career with the department, City Manager Elizabeth Pauli said. City of Tacoma
- ➤ The Tacoma City Council said it stood in strong solidarity with the Pierce County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO and federal workers affected by a March 27 executive order that stripped their collective bargaining rights. - ➤ Tacoma's Deputy Police Chief Paul Junger left his post after an Equal Employment Opportunity investigation ended — details of the allegations were not disclosed. Chief Patti Jackson said the department remains fully operational and is managing the leadership transition. KOMO News
