ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A series of highway incidents in western Washington saw two road workers in Puyallup thrown 20 feet and a state patrol cruiser destroyed near Marysville amid collisions with drunk and negligent drivers while the Washington State Department of Transportation reported that road worker deaths doubled from five in 2022 to ten in 2023 and shared a video warning of rising impatient drivers.  KOMO News

CRIME NEWS

  • Prosecutors charged 17-year-old Isaiah Davion Williams as an adult with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree unlawful firearm possession for a shootout at a house party in Spanaway that killed two and hurt four just after midnight Saturday—he appeared in court at 1:30 p.m. Monday.  KOMO News
  • A teen accused of firing shots at a weekend house party in Spanaway was expected in court on Monday — the suspect is linked to a mass shooting case.  FOX 13

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The City of Tacoma secured a $667,500 grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology’s Air Quality in Overburdened Communities Program (funded by the Climate Commitment Act) to improve air quality in heavily impacted neighborhoods. The city will offer 450 electric bike vouchers and distribute 350 air purifiers as it finalizes plans for a spring rollout.  City of Tacoma

  • Tacoma deputy police chief Paul Junger was fired after an external Equal Employment Opportunity investigation found sustained issues—he had been on administrative leave since October and his departure comes nearly two months after former police chief Avery Moore resigned.  FOX 13
