- ➤ The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is on scene after a drone operator spotted a woman's body in the Carbon River near 24409 177th St East in Orting—officers say the recovery mission is underway for former Army sergeant Zuleika Witron, 28, who fell near the Fairfax Bridge while hiking with her girlfriend and dogs amid rough weather. - ➤ A fight between neighbors in the Waller area led to a deadly shooting Friday around 4:30 p.m.—a 911 call said one neighbor shot the other—and deputies took the suspect into custody. FOX 13
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lawmakers have advanced Senate Bill 5238 which will count driving 30 mph over the speed limit as reckless driving—offenders will face up to 364 days in jail, a $5,000 fine, and a one-month license suspension if found guilty. The bill is now headed to the House and will take effect on Sept. 1 if it passes. KOMO News
