Photos from the Pacific Whale Watch Association showed that a new Bigg’s orca calf was spotted in Puget Sound on March 25.

The calf, the first for its 14-year-old mother Sedna, had a natural orange color from the birthing process and is part of a transient group that preys on seals and whales.

A new Bigg’s orca calf was spotted last week among more than a dozen killer whales in the Salish Sea between Port Townsend and the San Juan Islands, the Pacific Whale Watch Association said.

The calf was seen several times swimming with its mother Sedna — a descendant of the orca captured in 1976 — and its young age is shown by clear fetal folds and bright orange skin.
