Linda Hoffman, a local changemaker, was named a nominee for the 2026 Women of Impact award on March 24 as she raises funds and awareness for the American Heart Association through her Go Red for Women campaign.

Her efforts have united community support for heart health.

Community groups and airport partners raised $43,203 on a GoFundMe campaign to help unpaid TSA workers at Sea-Tac, who risk missing a paycheck amid the government shutdown — the funds will buy essential items like food, household goods and gas cards while lawmakers work on DHS funding.

The City of Tacoma’s Solid Waste utility will expand its Beyond the Bin program with 26 free donation events every Friday from April through September at the Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center, where local nonprofits will repurpose gently used household items as part of the Tacoma 2030 Climate Action Plan.
