About this event

When you think penguin, snow and ice come to mind, but most penguins actually live in more temperate climes. For over forty years, biologists from the University of Washington under Professor Dee Boersma have studied the hundreds of thousands of Magellanic penguins that breed in Punta Tombo, Argentina in one of the largest penguin colonies in the world. Join us to look closely at their lives to learn about the challenges they face and the ways humans can help ensure their future.

Eric Wagner is an award-winning science writer and author who has an M.A. in English and a Ph.D. in Biology from UW. He is a research scientist at the Center for Ecosystem Sentinels with the long-term research program at Punta Tombo. In Washington, he collaborates with a team of researchers who work on Rhinoceros Auklets at their colonies on Destruction Island and Protection Island.
